Australia Post redirects the mail of the person who died to the executor, free, for up to twelve months.
Who usually does this
The executor or administrator of the estate.
What they will ask for
- A completed mail redirection application form
- Your own proof of identity
- The grant of probate or letters of administration naming you, or the will naming you as executor
- Or, instead of those, the death certificate and a statutory declaration stating the person’s name, date of death and address, and your relationship
How to tell them
Apply in person at any post office with a completed mail redirection form. There is no online option for a deceased estate.
Australia Post offers up to twelve months of free redirection for a deceased estate.
What happens next
Mail addressed to the person is redirected to the address you nominate for the approved period.
